Steven D. Sheldon
ABOUT
Mr. Sheldon retired from the Maricopa County Superior Court in 2007 where he served as a Judge from 1989 to 2007. He returned to private practice to join what became the law firm of Franks & Sheldon, P.C., then Franks, Sheldon & Houser, P.C., where he practiced family law, including appeals of family law matters, conducted mediations, settlement conferences and acted as a Court-appointed Special Master and Parenting Coordinator. He started his own firm in 2013. He also has been retained and testified on numerous occasions as an expert witness in family law legal malpractice cases. ​

Mr. Sheldon's Military Career
Mr. Sheldon served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969, including a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam prior to his discharge from active duty in 1969. Mr. Sheldon was stationed at a river patrol base on the Nha Be River while in Vietnam as a communication specialist.​​
Mr. Sheldon's FBI Career
Mr. Sheldon was a Special Agent with the FBI from 1977 to 1982. After completing "New Agents" training at Quantico, Virgina, he was assigned to a general criminal investigation and fugitive apprehension squad with the Portland, Oregon FBI office. The FBI later selected Mr. Sheldon for assignment to language school where he studied Mandarin Chinese. After graduating with honors from the Monterey Language Institute, he was assigned to a foreign counter-intelligence unit in the FBI Field Office, in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Sheldon's Career as an Attorney
​​​After law school, Mr. Sheldon joined the law firm of Evans, Kitchel and Jenckes, in Phoenix. Mr. Sheldon left Phoenix to become an FBI agent. After leaving the FBI, Mr. Sheldon returned to Phoenix and worked as a staff attorney at the Court of Appeals, Division One, Phoenix, before being appointed to the Superior Court in 1989 by Governor Rose Mofford. After retiring from the Superior Court, Mr. Sheldon joined a law firm focusing on family law, Franks, Sheldon & Houser, PLLC., and worked as a Family Law Attorney, Parenting Coordinator, Mediator, Special Master and Expert Witness. He started his own firm The Law Office of Steven D. Sheldon in 2013.
Mr. Sheldon's Judicial Career
​​​Mr. Sheldon served as a Superior Court Judge in Maricopa County from 1989 to 2007. He served on criminal, civil, and family court assignments.
